FROSTED WINDOW CROWNS

Steps for upcycling plastic yogurt lids into jewelry hardware.

ONE:

Eat all of the yogurt then run the lid through the dishwasher. Cut out the flat middle area, discarding the rim. (The lids are made from BPA-free #5 PP.)

TWO:

Texture the surface with a fine grit sandpaper to remove the reflective shine. Then measure and cut two crowns to the desired size and shape.

THREE:

Continue to buff with sandpaper until edges are soft and rounded and the surface takes on a lovely frosted sea glass appearance.

FOUR:

Drill holes to align with bead rows plus a larger hole at the top. Sew beaded earring onto the crown, row by row, then attach the earring hook.

LEATHER CROWNS

A Natural Leather crown (leather purchased new) offers a soft, neutral look.

A Chocolate Leather crown (made from repurposed scraps) makes a more dramatic accent.
